Leveraging AI Tools to Build Stronger Teams and Safer Communities

At SoundThinking®, our mission has always been simple: to deliver smarter, data-driven public safety solutions that help law enforcement, security teams, and community partners keep people safe. As we continue to innovate and build strong solutions, we’re entering an exciting new chapter, one centered on the thoughtful use of artificial intelligence (AI) to make our products, operations, and people even stronger.

A Purposeful Step Forward to an AI-Native Company

We at SoundThinking are taking a very intentional approach to becoming what I call an “AI-native” company. That doesn’t mean chasing every new tool that appears. It means being thoughtful about how we use technology to solve real problems for our customers and improve how we work together.

We’re early in this journey, but the possibilities are already coming to life. We’ve started to see how AI can help us build software more efficiently, create better insights for agencies, and help our teams work smarter. It’s energizing to see those early results, and it’s clear we’ve only begun to scratch the surface.

Innovative AI Tools for Safer Communities

One of the most exciting areas of progress is within our products. Recently, we not only used AI to support our internal teams but also integrated natural-language search capabilities, AI document summarization, trend identification algorithms, and more into the new release of CrimeTracer Gen3. The platform already brings together data from across law enforcement systems and public records, but with these new features, we can help agencies connect the dots even faster.

We’re also using these advances to make improvements behind the scenes. In software development and product engineering, for example, AI helps us identify issues earlier, improve quality, and bring new capabilities to market faster. The result is not just better technology, but better outcomes for the communities we serve.

Using AI to Improve How We Work

AI isn’t only about our products; it’s also changing how we run the business. We’re integrating it into our daily operations to support sales, marketing, and customer service. This helps us understand customer needs more clearly and deliver more responsive support.

Equally important, it gives our employees opportunities to learn new skills and grow. We want everyone at SoundThinking to feel confident using the latest tools and approaches that make their work easier and more impactful. This isn’t just about company growth; it’s about helping people develop professionally and personally.

The Mission Matters

What excites me most about this evolution is that it stays true to our mission. We’ve always aimed to help public safety agencies and security teams do more with the resources they have. By using AI and Agentic AI thoughtfully, we can make our platform more effective, our operations more efficient, and our people more capable.

It also strengthens what makes SoundThinking unique — our ability to combine innovation with trust. Every improvement we make is built around one goal: helping our customers respond faster, work smarter, and protect their communities more effectively.

Looking Ahead with AI

As we move forward, we’ll continue focusing on three things:

  • Building technology that delivers real-world value for public safety agencies.
  • Using AI responsibly in ways that enhance performance and reliability.
  • Supporting our people with training and opportunities to grow their expertise.

We know that technology alone doesn’t make communities safer. Our goal is to use AI to amplify the expertise of law enforcement and security professionals, not replace it. When technology and human insight work together, the result is stronger, safer communities.
