The Boston Globe reported on enduring support for ShotSpotter in Cambridge, MA. The city’s mayor and police commissioner are among the supporters of the technology, citing instances where it has helped police respond to shootings and locate firearms. “Those instances where we did not get a 911 call and we were able to respond and give medical attention swiftly and quickly…showed the value in itself of ShotSpotter,” Police Commissioner Christine Elow explained. Residents have been equally supportive added Councilor Marc McGovern. “It’s hard for me to say I’m going to oppose something that people who are actually living with it are telling me they actually want,” said McGovern. “If this is something that they no longer want in their community, that’s a different conversation. But that’s not what I’m hearing.”
