I previously had great success using CrimeTracer in identifying a check cashing scheme suspect that moved throughout the State of California. However, I wanted to submit another recent success that our department had via CrimeTracer.
During a three-month long investigation of a residential burglary, I developed a potential phone number associated with the suspect. A search of this number through CrimeTracer revealed a single law enforcement contact from the previous year, reported by an outside agency.
This lead was instrumental. The contact provided key identifying details, ultimately allowing me to confirm the suspect’s identity through a positive match. Without access to CrimeTracer, I would not have discovered this prior contact, as our agency does not have access to the originating agency’s police reports. With the suspect positively identified and the evidence compiled, I was able to successfully obtain an arrest warrant.
This database provided a critical role in breaking the case that would not have otherwise been accessible. This is just another example of CrimeTracer’s capability to connect police departments throughout the state.
