News12 reported on New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ response to a recent report by City Comptroller Brad Lander questioning the accuracy of the NYPD’s ShotSpotter technology. Mayor Adams defended the technology, stating that the comptroller’s team “may have good intentions, but they don’t understand how the ShotSpotter operates.” Adams emphasized that police experts have conducted rigorous reviews of the tool and found it to be “amazing.” “I think that we need to listen to the police experts,” he argued. “If the police are telling us this is a great tool, I don’t think a clerical review of it is going to be the analysis that we need.”
