Hawaiian Gardens Sees Significant Decrease in Crime Rates in 2023

According to Hews Media Group, Hawaiian Gardens has witnessed a reduction in crime rates in 2023, thanks, in part, to tools such as ShotSpotter. This reduction was highlighted in a presentation to the City Council by Lakewood Sheriff Captain Dan Holguin. In 2023, Hawaiian Gardens received 176 ShotSpotter alerts, leading to the discovery of crucial evidence and the collection of 18 witness statements – all stemming from the system’s rapid and precise alerts. Police also reported improved relationships between police and community members during the year. “The safety and well-being of our community have always been a top priority, said Mayor Victor Farfan. “We are delighted to see the tangible results of our collaborative endeavors to create safer Hawaiian Gardens for everyone.”
