A horrifying incident took place in Jacksonville where a gunman shot and killed three people and then took his own life. Authorities believe the shooting was racially motivated. It took place at a Dollar General store near Edward Waters University, a small historically Black university. ShotSpotter played a critical role in helping law enforcement quickly respond to the incident. According to Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters, ShotSpotter alerted police to gunshots a full 1 minute and 50 seconds before the first 911 call, potentially saving lives. Victims ranged in age from 19-52.
