New Bern Police Department introduces ShotSpotter technology

WITN-TV reported on the deployment of ShotSpotter in New Bern, NC. Given more than 80% of gunfire goes unreported, the system will fill that gap while enabling faster response times. The department is also hoping ShotSpotter will help combat shootings and make the city safer. “We will not simply stand by and use old strategies that are not as efficient and effective,” explained. Our own Fred Malinowski was also in attendance to answer questions related to the system’s accuracy and privacy protections. The system is now live and in-use across the city.
