How can I improve weapons screening without stopping patients and visitors or creating long lines?
SafePointe is built for high-throughput, free-flow entry. People continue walking through a discreet detection zone, and the system can scan multiple individuals at once, helping reduce bottlenecks at busy entrances and during visiting-hour peaks.
What happens when SafePointe detects a firearm?
When someone passes between the bollards (typically 8 feet apart), SafePointe analyzes magnetic signature data. If it flags a potential firearm, trained analysts confirm the alert—usually within about 10 seconds—and your security team receives an image and short video via the SafePointe app or text so we can respond quickly and appropriately.
Do I need to add staff to operate this at every entrance?
SafePointe is designed to be unmanned, so you don’t have to post dedicated personnel at each entry point just to keep screening running. Instead, staff can stay mobile and respond when a verified alert occurs, rather than being assigned to every doorway like traditional walkthrough metal detectors often require.
How can the hospital screen for weapons without putting pacemaker patients, pregnant staff, or medically vulnerable people at risk?
SafePointe uses passive technology with Magnetic Moment sensors that don’t generate an active field. That’s intended to be a better fit for healthcare settings where staff and patient safety are the primary concerns.
How will SafePointe help mitigate security risks without sacrificing patient satisfaction scores?
Discreet weapons detection that allows easy flow and is always screening entrances while reducing friction with screening that slows down entry. And the unobtrusive design reduces visible friction at entrances, freeing security staff to respond to verified threats rather than manually screening everyone or slowing ingress or egress.
How can ShotSpotter help on a hospital campus?
ShotSpotter provides outdoor gunfire detection around a campus. Sensors detect and triangulate suspected gunfire, then the Incident Review Center verifies and sends an alert to the security team and/or law enforcement within about 60 seconds—giving hospital security earlier awareness to coordinate response, communications, and safety actions.
How does PlateRanger complement SafePointe for a layered hospital security plan?
PlateRanger supports the perimeter layer by identifying vehicles and alerting when a vehicle of interest enters the property (based on security hot lists). SafePointe strengthens the entry layer by screening for firearms at key entrances. Together, they help connect “who’s arriving” with “what’s coming inside.”
Can these tools work together effectively during a real incident?
Yes—this is where a layered approach matters. ShotSpotter can rapidly alert to gunfire occurring near the campus, PlateRanger can surface vehicle intelligence as events unfold, and SafePointe helps reduce the chance a firearm makes it through entrances—supporting faster decisions and a more coordinated response.
